Transfer News: Wolves submit offer for Aaron Ramsey

Wolverhampton Wanderers have shown an interest in Juventus star Aaron Ramsey but the player remains unconvinced by a potential move to the Molineux.

According to Italian publication Calciomercato, Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an offer for Juventus star Aaron Ramsey.

The Molineux based outfit are currently in a state of a rebuild after parting ways with Nuno Espirito Santo. Having established themselves as a Premier League club, they will now look to continue their progress under Bruno Lage. Wolves have already brought in four players this summer. The likes of Rayan Ait Nouri, Jose Sa, Yerson Mosquera and Bendeguz Bolla have joined permanently, while Francisco Trincao is on a season-long loan.

However, the Premier League side could be about to make their biggest move of the summer in attempting to land Ramsey. The Welshman joined Juventus from Arsenal on a Bosman move in 2019 but has failed to make much of an impact in Turin. He has so far made 65 appearances for the Old Lady, scoring and assisting six goals apiece. While injuries have not helped his case much, there is little doubt that he is far from his best.

A return to the Premier League could be in the offing should Wolves have their way. Juventus, for their part, are keen to part with the 30-year-old who earns a whopping £400,000-a-week in wages. Selling Ramsey will free up a spot for the Italian giants to re-sign Miralem Pjanic.

Ramsey, however, is not convinced by a move to the Midlands and is resisting the transfer. He still has two years to go on his current deal at the Allianz Stadium. Whether he is not keen to take a step down in his career or still believes he can make a difference in Serie A remains to be seen.

A hugely versatile player, Ramsey has vast experience of playing in the English game. He has made over 400 appearances for the likes of Arsenal, Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest and will not have to strive hard to reacquaint himself with the English style.

Joao Moutinho is not getting any younger and has also been linked with a summer exit from Wolves. Replacing the veteran with Ramsey will be an upgrade and give Lage a seasoned player to call upon. With Ruben Neves also linked with an exit, Ramsey could very well become the midfield stalwart at the Molineux next season.

His ability on the ball and driving runs from midfield could prove to be a huge asset for a side smarting from a 13th placed finish last season. Add to it his ability to make key passes and an eye for goal, and the Midlands outfit will be landing themselves an orchestrator.

While Ramsey may not want to move to Wolves, staying in Juventus is not favouring him. He could very well get his way and be a bit-part player in Turin or move to Wolves and rekindle what has been a flagging career. At 30, he still has a few years left in him, and a return to familiar haunts could do him good.
