Jack Grealish is closing in on his move to Manchester City, who have made a fresh £100 million bid to sign the Aston Villa playmaker.

According to John Percy of The Telegraph, Manchester City are confident of sealing the deal for Jack Grealish with a new £100 million offer for the Aston Villa playmaker. It appears the highly talented Englishman has become Pep Guardiola’s priority target this summer, ahead of Harry Kane, with the club ready to splash a fortune to acquire his services.

If the deal goes through, Grealish will break Paul Pogba’s record of being the most expensive transfer in Premier League history. Earlier this week, the Citizens were weighing up a £90 million bid including add-ons, but it appears they have increased their offer to appease Aston Villa, who have no intention of offloading their star player.

The English international has established himself as one of the most in-demand players in Europe, having starred in the Premier League for the past couple of seasons. He has been involved in 32 league goals since Aston Villa got promoted to the top-flight in 2019, with the playmaker also starring for England in Euro 2020.

Although the Three Lions lost to Italy in the final, Grealish has impressed the onlookers with his impactful performances throughout the tournament. His performances for club and country have not gone unnoticed either, with Pep Guardiola identifying him as a top target in his bid to strengthen his squad as he looks to build on an excellent 2020/21 campaign.

Furthermore, the Premier League champions are expected to cash in on a few of their star players this summer. Bernardo Silva, for one, has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium, with Arsenal being linked with a shock move for the Portuguese international.

Another player tipped to leave the club is Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian doesn’t appear to have any future at Manchester City despite the departure of Sergio Aguero. He is also courted by Juventus, though his potential sale will force Guardiola to enter the market for a new centre-forward, which is risky in this financial climate.

As for Grealish, he is expected to return to Aston Villa training on Monday. But his future perhaps lies at Etihad Stadium, with the Villans already preparing for without their talismanic attacker. In fact, the English outfit is in pole position to sign Bayer Leverkusen superstar Leon Bailey while they have already secured the signing of Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City.
