Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on Lautaro Martinez, having made an enquiry for the 23-year-old Argentine forward.

According to a report by Daily Telegraph, Lautaro Martinez is the subject of interest from Arsenal over a move in the summer transfer window. In fact, the Gunners have already submitted an enquiry to swoop the 23-year-old Argentine forward away from Serie A champions Inter Milan.

Lautaro Martinez has progress significantly since joining Inter Milan from Racing Club in the summer of 2018. Over the last three years, the young striker has gone on to become a mainstay in the Nerazzurri’s attacking unit, racking up 132 appearances while amassing a tally of 49 goals and 20 assist in the process.

This past season, the 23-year-old was a key figure as Inter ended Juventus’ hegemony at the top of Serie A to lift the league title. Later in the summer, Martinez was also a part of the triumphant Argentine side that won the Copa America. His progress over the years has unsurprisingly attracted some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with Arsenal the latest prospect suitors.

The Gunners are looking likely to invest in a striker this summer amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah. So, even though Folarin Balogun is set to receive promotion to the first-team setup, Arsenal will still need to sign a forward to bolster their attack.

To that end, Tammy Abraham is one of the options on Arsenal’s radar, with the North Londoners reportedly prepared to offer him a bumper deal. The English giants, though, seem to be keeping their options open, as far as targets to reinforce their attacking unit are concerned.

Martinez has, as a result, seemingly emerged as a viable target for Arsenal, who have already made an enquiry to Inter Milan for the Argentine forward. However, the reigning Serie A champions are intent on keeping hold of the 23-year-old as they look to be in the right shape to defend their crown in the coming season.

For now, Arsenal have evidently registered their interest in Lautaro Martinez, who is viewed as a potential option to reinforce their attacking unit. However, Inter look determined to ensure that the sale of Achraf Hakimi is the only major departure for them this summer, and it remains to be seen if Arsenal can do anything to change that.
