Leeds United are reportedly lining up a summer move for Adama Traore, who is also a target for Manchester United this summer.
According to a report by 90 min, Adama Traore appears to be a popular figure in the transfer market as we get into the thick of the summer transfer window. Leeds United are the latest club to have shown an interest in the 25-year-old Spanish international, who is also on the radar of rivals Manchester United.
Adama Traore has come a long way since leaving Barcelona to join Aston Villa in the summer of 2015. The Spaniard initially struggled in England, failing to make a mark at either Villa or later at Middlesbrough. The switch to Wolverhampton Wanderers, though, has worked like a charm for him.
To date, the 25-year-old has racked up quite a reputation at the Molineux, even though his tally of 10 goals and 18 assists in 131 appearances might not inspire a lot of confidence. However, that has done nothing to keep potential suitors at bay, with Manchester United among his suitors, while Leeds United are the latest to have emerged in his pursuit.
Leeds continue to be in the market for a wide forward despite signing Jack Harrison permanently from Manchester City. That is because following Helder Costa’s struggles last term, the Portuguese winger is set to depart Elland Road, as per widespread reports, which would create a void in the Whites’ attacking unit.
As a result, Leeds have been linked with several forwards, including Farid Boulaya, Noa Lang and a few others, with Traore now emerging as a viable target. The interest from Manchester United, on the other hand, comes as a bit of a surprise.
While Traore is capable of playing on the left flank, he is primarily a right-winger. And after signing Jadon Sancho, Manchester United will hardly be in need of another option to bolster the right side of their attack, especially with Amad Diallo and Facunco Pellistri among the backup options at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s disposal.
Nevertheless, it looks like Manchester United could be among the suitors for Traore, who is also the subject of interest from Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea. Leeds, though, appear set to make their move for the 25-year-old, with a move likely to be in the works to land him.
The report stresses that Wolves will want a profit on their £20 million investment in Traore, and a sale would surely work in their favour. For now, Leeds have joined the bigwigs of Premier League in Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if any of the potential suitors can snap the Spanish international up.
