Real Madrid, in addition to a few Premier League clubs, have reportedly tabled an offer for 25-year-old French international Kingsley Coman.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, the race to sign Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window is gathering momentum. As per the latest update, Real Madrid, as well as a few Premier League clubs, have submitted an offer for the 25-year-old French international, who is currently at an impasse with Bayern Munich over a renewal.
Kingsley Coman is coming on the back of one of his best campaigns with Bayern Munich, having raked in a tally of eight goals and 15 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions in 2020/21. A serial winner at club level, the Frenchman has won league titles in three different leagues while also lifting the UEFA Champions League with Bayern last year.
However, heading into the summer transfer window, the 25-year-old has question marks over his future at the Allianz Arena. With his current deal set to expire in two years’ time, Bayern Munich are eager to tie him down to a new contract but are yet to match his demands of wages up to €13 million per year. Such a situation has piqued the interest of Real Madrid and a few others.
The interest from Real Madrid is hardly surprising, considering their most recent marquee signing Eden Hazard is yet to hit the ground running. In addition, youngsters like Marco Asensio, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Jr. have been fairly inconsistent, all of which has meant that Karim Benzema has had to shoulder the bulk of the responsibility in the final third for Los Blancos.
As a result, Real Madrid are reportedly determined to make a major attacking signing this summer, with Kylian Mbappe heavily linked as their priority target. However, the financials involving a potential deal for the French international are making his pursuit a tad-bit complicated, which is why Real Madrid have turned their attention towards his compatriot Coman.
Apart from Real Madrid, a bevy of Premier League clubs have also been showing an interest in the 25-year-old, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool linked with him. And the report suggests that the Merengues are one of the clubs that had tabled an offer for Coman, though it is possible that he will sign a new deal with Bayern Munich.
For now, Real Madrid’s priority is Mbappe, meaning the interest in Coman will take a back seat as well until they are certain that the PSG forward cannot be signed. For now, though, Real Madrid as well as a few Premier League clubs have made their intentions known for the French international and it will be interesting to see if any of the parties launch the offensive for him this summer.
