Transfer News: Liverpool told to shell out over €100 million for Kingsley Coman

Liverpool will need to stump up over €100 million to secure the services of Kingsley Coman from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

According to a report by Sky Sport Germany, Liverpool have been made aware of the valuation imposed on Kingsley Coman by Bayern Munich. The Reds will need to pay over €100 million to sign the 25-year-old French international from the Bundesliga champions in the summer transfer window.

Kingsley Coman joined Bayern Munich from Juventus in the summer of 2015. Initially brought in on a two-year loan deal, the Frenchman was signed permanently in 2017, and he has made significant progress in that time, although he has also been troubled by a fair few fitness issues. However, this past season, he made quite an impression, carving out a place for himself at the Allianz Arena.

In 39 appearances across all competitions, the 25-year-old had a solid return of eight goals and 15 assists to show for his efforts. However, Coman’s future at Bayern Munich is up in the air, owing to differences over wages. Such a situation has piqued the interest of Liverpool, among others, with the Reds the latest outfit to have emerged in his pursuit.

The interest from Liverpool is hardly surprising following what was a difficult 2020/21 campaign. Sadio Mane, in particular, struggled to perform consistently, while Mohamed Salah has been linked with a possible summer exit. With Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi tipped to depart Anfield, the Reds will need to bolster their attack anyway.

To that end, Coman is a viable target for the Merseyside outfit, who have reportedly contacted his entourage already. However, swooping the 25-year-old away from Bayern Munich will come at a major cost for Liverpool, who will need to pay a bomb to land the French forward.

The Bundesliga champions have slapped a price tag in excess of €100 million on Coman and could even command as much as €120 million for him. Meanwhile, as per the report, there have been no offers forthcoming for Coman just yet, meaning any transfer is still some way away for Liverpool.

It now remains to be seen if Liverpool show any intention to snap up the French international on a deal worth €100 million or higher. With Kylian Mbappe also a major attacking target, Liverpool will have to weigh up their options before making a final call over who they bid for seriously.
