Pascal Gross has appeared on Liverpool’s radar as the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder faces an uncertain future at the club.
A recent report from Tuttomercatoweb has shed some light on the future of Pascal Gross. It appears the Brighton & Hove Albion star is being tipped for a move away from the Amex Stadium, with the Serie A described as the likely destination.
However, Gross is also on the radar of Premier League giants Liverpool, with coach Jurgen Klopp rating him highly for his creative ability. The club has been linked with a move for him in the past as well and may want to take advantage of his situation to seal the deal this summer.
A former member of the Hoffenheim youth academy, Gross joined Brighton & Hove Albion in a €3 million deal from FC Ingolstadt. It was an absolute bargain, as the German has since emerged as a creative lynchpin for the Seagulls, being involved in 40 goals in just 137 competitive appearances.
Since 2017, only Kevin De Bruyne has created more chances than the German midfielder in the Premier League, which is quite impressive given how he plays in a far weaker team.
Gross’ performances have appealed to Klopp, in particular, who is hoping to add more reinforcements in the creative department in the summer. The Reds are expected to undergo a little overhaul in the midfield unit, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain being linked with a move to West Ham.
It paves the way ideally for someone like Gross to settle in at Liverpool. The midfielder can play in multiple positions, including central midfield and wide midfield, in addition to the number ten role.
While Gross may not be a first-choice creative option for Liverpool, his creativity, versatility, and experience in English football should make him a useful option for Klopp. The 30-year-old isn’t expected to cost a fortune either – making him a smart investment for the club.
It bodes particularly well for a Liverpool side who are facing financial difficulties after a disappointing economic year. Although the Merseyside giants had brought in Ibrahima Konate earlier in the summer, it is difficult to imagine another big-money signing without a notable departure.

Naby Keita, for one, has been linked with a switch to Atletico Madrid, while Xherdan Shaqiri is likely to be offloaded as well. The club is reportedly looking for a fee of just €7 million for the Swiss international, although that may increase should the attacker perform well in the ongoing Euro 2020.
