Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on Bayern Munich duo Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich over a possible raid next summer.
According to an exclusive report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid are keeping a keen eye on the developments surrounding the contract situations of Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich. However, the Merengues will only make a move for the Bayern Munich duo next summer if things fall in place.
Coman and Kimmich have both been with Bayern Munich for over half a decade now, with both players arriving at the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2015. Coman initially moved on a two-year loan deal before making his move permanent in 2017. The duo, though, has gone on to become key components in the German giants’ first-team setup.
Kimmich, in particular, has gone on to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the game. At the same time, Coman grew in stature considerably this past season and was one of Bayern Munich’s best performers in 2020/21, amassing eight goals and 15 assists in 39 appearances. But, Kimmich and Coman have a few question marks popping up around their Bayern futures, which has now alerted Real Madrid.
Kimmich and Coman are both on contracts that will run out in 2023, and there has been very little development on the renewal front. With that in mind, Real Madrid are closely monitoring their respective situations at the Allianz Arena, intending to make a double raid on Bayern Munich next summer.
The interest in Kimmich makes a great deal of sense, seeing as Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are well into their thirties. In addition, Casemiro will turn 30 next year and has no cover for him in the Real Madrid first-team setup. Kimmich is, therefore, a viable target for Los Blancos, who can be sorted for close to a decade if they can land the German international.
As for Coman, the French winger will surely come in handy for a Real Madrid side that has suffered a fair bit due to the inconsistencies of Marco Asensio, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Jr., while Eden Hazard has been sidelined with a spate of injuries more often than he has taken the pitch. With Coman starting to perform at a high level, now is the perfect time for Real Madrid to pounce.
It has indeed been mooted that Carlo Ancelotti could raid some of his former clubs to bolster the Real Madrid first-team setup, with James Rodriguez and Richarlison among those linked. What now remains to be seen is if Bayern Munich make their move to tie Kimmich and Coman down to long-term deals. If not, then Real Madrid could well launch the offensive for them next year.
