Real Madrid are set to ramp up their pursuit of PSG and France superstar Kylian Mbappe with an opening offer being readied for the prolific attacker.

According to a report from Defensa Central, La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are ready to act on their long-standing interest in Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe this summer. The Merengues are preparing a player plus cash opening bid for the Frenchman that would see the Ligue 1 giants receive €75 million in addition to Raphael Varane.

Mbappe has grown into one of the best attackers in the game ever since he burst onto the scenes at AS Monaco in 2016. Having jumped ship to PSG a year later, initially on loan, before making the transfer permanent in 2018, he has continued to scale great heights since, winning numerous titles and trophies with Les Parisiens and the FIFA World Cup with France in 2018.

Mbappe, to date, has plundered 132 goals and 61 assists in just 171 matches for PSG, enjoying a spectacular 2020/21 season during which he found the back of the net on 42 occasions across all competitions. It is no secret that the 22-year-old French superstar has been on the radars of Real Madrid for several years now.

However, having failed to land their man till now, Real Madrid are set to prioritise his signing this summer. And, a move for the 22-year-old is a much-needed one, considering that new manager Carlo Ancelotti does not have a lot of quality beyond Karim Benzema in the centre-forward slot while the wide players like Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard, Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior have not performed consistently either.

Signing Mbappe would allow Real Madrid to field him alongside Benzema initially before the 22-year-old eventually replaces his countryman in the No. 9 role. To that end, Los Blancos are now ready to launch an opening offer for the PSG superstar, even though their chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi insisted that they would not sell the World Cup winner in a recent interview.

As per the report, Real Madrid will offer PSG a sum of €75 million, in addition to defensive mainstay Raphael Varane. The French centre-back is entering the final year of his contract with the Spanish giants and has his heart set on a new challenge. While Manchester United are ramping up their efforts to sign himLos Blancos, who value him at €70 million, intend to use him in the deal to get Mbappe on board.

What works in Real Madrid’s favour is that Mbappe, too, is entering the final year of his deal with PSG and should he not sign a renewal, the French heavyweights stare at the possibility of losing him for nothing a year later. It now remains to be seen if they deem Madrid’s opening offer worthy and accept it or stand firm on their stance of not selling Mbappe.
