Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing 18-year-old Spanish winger Yeremy from Villarreal in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Real Madrid have turned their attention towards Yeremy over a potential move in the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old Spanish prodigy could be valued around €50 million by Villarreal.
Yeremy joined Villarreal from Las Palmas in the summer of 2017, after rejecting an offer from FC Barcelona, as he approached the end of his youth footballing days. After spending a couple of years in the Villarreal academy, the teenage prodigy made his senior debut with their C team in 2019.
His big break in the first-team setup came early into the 2020/21 campaign and the Spanish winger subsequently went on to make 36 further appearances across all competitions, with a respectable return of 7 goals and 1 assist. And, in the UEFA Europa League final last month, Yeremy became the youngest Spanish player to start a major European final. All this and more has alerted Real Madrid.
For a few years now, Real Madrid have focused a large portion of their attention in the transfer market towards highly rated prospects who can be long-term solutions in their respective positions. Such an outlook has prompted the Merengues to sign the likes of Federico Valverde, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Jr. among others, with several already becoming a key part of the first-team setup.
To that end, the interest in Yeremy does make sense, especially considering the uncertain future that Marco Asensio is facing at the club. As for the players they are targeting, Real Madrid have been linked with a number of talented attacking players heading into the summer transfer window.
Some of these include Rayan Cherki, Gonzalo Sosa and Fabio Silva, with Yeremy another one who fits the bill. In theory, the 18-year-old Spanish prodigy could provide competition to Rodrygo and Vinicius out wide initially before potentially becoming a key figure, if he continues on his upward trajectory.
For now, though, Real Madrid have simply fixed their attention on Yeremy and are keen on making their first move in order to prise him away from Villarreal. However, his valuation could be upward of €50 million, although the report does add that the Yellow Submarine are yet to fix a price tag on him. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid do launch the offensive for the teenager.
