Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City are set to provide stiff competition to Atletico Madrid in pursuit of Adama Traore this summer.

According to an exclusive report from El Gol Digital, Atletico Madrid are in pole position to sign Adama Traore. The Wolves forward is on the verge of an exit from Molineux in the summer, with Wanda Metropolitano being labelled as the likely destination for the player, who is expected to cost around €33 million – €35 million.

Atleti’s hopes of securing Traore’s services, however, could be jeopardised by interest from Premier League clubs, with Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City interested in acquiring his signature this summer while Juventus and Leeds United are also keen.

A product of the famed La Masia youth academy in Barcelona, Traore was regarded as one of Premier League’s best up and coming players, not more than just a year ago when the Spaniard impressed the onlookers with his impressive physique, pace and productivity in the final third.

Unfortunately, his progress at Molinieux has been stifled in the ongoing campaign, especially due to the arrival of Nelson Semedo last summer, as well as the subsequent emergence of Pedro Neto that has left the winger moving down the pecking order.

Yet, Liverpool’s interest in the 25-year-old is hardly surprising as the Reds prepare for a busy summer transfer window that could see the departure of at least one of their players. Mohamed Salah, in particular, is being heavily linked with a move away from Anfield, which could accentuate the need for a new attacker.

In addition to Salah, even Roberto Firmino is facing an uncertain future at Liverpool and has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, who are in the hunt for new attackers as they brace themselves for life without Luis Suarez and potentially, Joao Felix.

Manchester City, too, could welcome the arrival of someone like Adama Traore as the Spaniard’s physically oriented game could bring variety to an attacking unit that is full of technically astute, shorter individuals like Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva – players who do not offer much in the physical side of their game.

Tottenham, though, could be a peculiar case as the Lilywhites are now uncertain about the club’s future after the sacking of Jose Mourinho. In fact, their summer plans could change drastically after the Portuguese tactician’s departure in the summer; so whether or not the club will retain its interest in Traore remains to be seen. For now, Liverpool have Tottenham, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid for competition in his pursuit.
