Real Madrid are reportedly pondering over a possible €120 million move for Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Romelu Lukaku has emerged as a backup option for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland at Real Madrid. In fact, the reigning La Liga champions are even considering a move worth €120 million for the Inter Milan striker.
Lukaku joined Inter Milan from Manchester United in the summer of 2019 when his career was at a crossroads. Immediately after joining the Serie A heavyweights, though, the 27-year-old turned his fortunes around in a big way, playing a key role as the Nerazzurri challenged for the title last term.
This season, the Belgian international has stepped up again, establishing himself as one of the best forwards on show in Serie A and breaching the 20-goal barrier in the league again. His contributions are playing a pivotal role as well, with Inter the odds-on favourites to win the Serie A title. Lukaku’s exploits, though, have attracted a number of top clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid.
Real Madrid appear set to bolster their attack in the summer transfer window despite the fact that Karim Benzema continues to be the leading light for them. However, with the Frenchman on the wrong side of 30, it is prudent for Los Blancos to keep their options open, which is why they seem to be chasing a move for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
However, as per the report their respective €200 million and €160 million valuations are putting Real Madrid off, even though the latter has been reported to prefer a switch to the Spanish capital. This has forced them to turn their attention towards Lukaku, who is valued at around €120 million by Inter Milan.
The Serie A outfit, though, are not rigid on their valuation of the player and will enter negotiations if Real Madrid are prepared to shell out €100 million for him. As a result, the Merengues are weighing up a possible bid for the Belgian forward, who could be set to leave Inter Milan this summer due to the Nerazzurri’s difficult financial situation.
Meanwhile, the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona have also been linked with Romelu Lukaku, although it will be interesting to see if they end up making a move for him. As for Real Madrid, it remains to be seen if they are willing to meet the €120 million valuation to land the 27-year-old this summer.
