Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek are in contention while Marcus Rashford is in line to start when Manchester United take on AC Milan in the UEFA Europa League.

Manchester United will be aiming to seal safe passage through to the quarter-finals of the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League when they face AC Milan at San Siro in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie.

Heading into the game, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been greeted with some positive news on the roster issues front as both Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek are fit again and have travelled to Italy. David de Gea is also back in the squad after completing his quarantine.

However, Edinson Cavani was a late omission from the travelling party as he had a minor issue in the final training session. Apart from him, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata and Phil Jones are all ruled out as well while Eric Bailly is also an absentee for the Red Devils.

Providing an update on the condition of his squad ahead of the game, Solskjaer said, “We are happy to have Donny back, Paul and David. Big players. Unfortunately, it looks like Edinson has got a bit of a reaction to training today and didn’t feel ready to travel. Eric is being assessed. He might have turned around and said he’s ready but he didn’t train this morning.”

Despite de Gea’s availability, Dean Henderson is likely to get the nod in goal once again on Thursday night. The Manchester United backline picks itself as Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire will pair up at the centre, flanked by the duo of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and the in-form Luke Shaw.

Moving into the midfield department, despite the return of both Pogba and van de Beek, Solskjaer is unlikely to thrust them back into the thick of things straight away. So, Scott McTominay should once again feature alongside Fred in the double pivot for Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes is an undisputed starter in the No. 10 role. Marcus Rashford missed the first leg at Old Trafford last week but having made his return against West Ham in the league last time out, the Manchester United No. 10 should start here again on the left flank.

With no Cavani or Martial, Mason Greenwood becomes the automatic pick as the centre-forward for Manchester United while Daniel James could get another go on the right-wing, although Amad Diallo, who scored the only goal for the Red Devils in the first leg, is also an option at Solskjaer’s disposal.
