Transfer News: David Alaba Could Choose PSG Over Real Madrid

David Alaba could be on his way to France to join PSG instead of Real Madrid after his Bayern Munich contract expires in the summer.

According to reports from TZ in Germany, PSG could very well be the leading candidates in landing David Alaba in the summer transfer window, as the French club look Likely to beat Real Madrid for the Austrian’s signature.

David Alaba will be leaving Bayern Munich on a free transfer at the end of the season, after failing to reach an agreement with the German club over his contract extension, thus ending a 11 year association with the Bundesliga giants. During his tenure at Munich, Alaba won 26 trophies with the club and the Allianz Arena faithful will miss the Austrian’s calm persona in defence.

Real Madrid were favorites to sign the Austrian defender with Zinedine Zidane looking for a defensive personnel to replace Raphael Varane, who looks likely to leave in the summer and has been linked with Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United. The Spanish giants though, are yet to agree on a new deal with their captain Sergio Ramos.

And, as per reports from sky sports, PSG is said to have made an offer to Alaba, with the Bayern defender already having a conversation with club owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Al Khelaifi has been long interested in bringing Alaba to Paris.

The French club have found it difficult to spend money in the transfer market due to the tougher rules set by Financial Fair Play committee and also due to the economic situation caused by the Pandemic. Hence, signing a top player like Alaba for free in the summer window will turn out be a great bit of business for the club.

Alaba is likely to choose PSG over Real Madrid owing to the fact that he could realize his dream of playing centre-midfield at the French club, with Casemiro and Toni Kroos still being the preferred players in that position at the Santiago Bernabau. It is also likely the Paris based club will offer higher wages than Los Blancos, as the La Liga has been hit with an economic recession and the clubs are unlikely to offer huge salaries to their players.

It remains to be seen if Alaba chooses PSG over Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
