Transfer News: Liverpool, Manchester United keeping tabs on Youssef En-Nesyri

Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation of Sevilla centre-forward Youssef En-Nesyri, who was attracted widespread interest.

According to a report from 90min.com, Premier League champions Liverpool and their arch-rivals Manchester United have asked to be kept in the loop regarding the contract situation of Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

En-Nesyri, 23, has spent his entire professional career in Spain. Having started out at Malaga, the Moroccan had an eighteen-month stint at Leganes before he joined Sevilla in January last year. Since signing for Julen Lopetegui’s side, the centre-forward has developed into an important player.

En-Nesyri scored a couple of goals in the UEFA Europa League last season as Sevilla went on to win the competition, along with four strikes in La Liga. The Moroccan international has upped his game this time out though, having already plundered 17 goals from 35 games across all competitions.

En-Nesyri’s development at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium has led to him attracting interest from a host of clubs across Europe. Premier League top-four hopefuls, West Ham United made an enquiry for him last month and are continuing to monitor him.

Sevilla rebuffed the Hammers’ interest in the 23-year-old striker and are now hoping to hand him a new contract with improved terms even though his current deal runs till 2025. And, both Liverpool and Manchester United have asked to be kept updated about his situation at the La Liga outfit.

Liverpool have a packed attacking unit as things stand. But the fact that Roberto Firmino’s goal-output has declined and Divock Origi is not a reliable cover could lead to them looking to add another centre-forward to their midst in the upcoming season.

Manchester United, on the other hand, could require a new striker as well, as Edinson Cavani is not getting any younger while Anthony Martial continues to misfire. With manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring to use Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood out wide, bringing in another accomplished striker makes sense for the Red Devils.

Apart from West Ham, Liverpool and Manchester United, German giants Borussia Dortmund are also interested in En-Nesyri. The Black and Yellows could be in need of attacking reinforcements with there being a strong possibility that they might lose star man Erling Haaland in the summer.

Inter Milan are also said to be monitoring En-Nesyri’s situation closely. For now though, the 23-year-old is believed to be happy at Sevilla. However, both Liverpool and Manchester United will likely continue to keenly follow his situation at the La Liga outfit.
