Transfer News: Real Madrid prepared to offer €80 million plus Eden Hazard to sign Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid are reportedly readying an offer of €80 million plus Eden Hazard as they prepare to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG in the summer.

According to Spanish publication Todo Fichajes, Real Madrid are preparing an offer to complete the signing of top transfer target Kylian Mbappe in the summer, which would see star man Eden Hazard move the other way to Paris Saint-Germain.

One of the deadliest young forwards in the game, Mbappe’s reputation continues to skyrocket with every passing season. Having first led AS Monaco to a shock Ligue 1 title win, the 22-year-old has led PSG to a host of domestic titles and trophies since making the switch to Parc des Princes in 2017.

Till date, Mbappe, who also won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France, has plundered 108 goals in 147 matches for PSG. The 22-year-old has not been at his best in the ongoing campaign, but has still already netted 16 times and set up 9 more goals in just 23 games across all competitions.

Mbappe’s exploits have seen him attract admirers from across Europe, with Real Madrid being his long-term suitors. The Merengues have been interested in the Frenchman for quite a while now, but could finally make a move for him in the upcoming summer transfer window as they are in need of bolstering their attacking unit.

Karim Benzema is not getting any younger and has not always been as consistent this term. Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has little quality in terms of backup for the veteran striker, having let Luka Jovic return to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan following his struggles to adapt to life as at the club while Mariano Diaz has also failed to make notable contributions.

Furthermore, the supporting cast around Benzema, in the likes of Vinicius Junior, Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Rodrygo Goes, has also struggled to get going this term. Thus, some injection of fresh blood in the attacking unit in the summer will be necessary for Los Blancos.

Mbappe, to that end, would prove to be a massive signing for Real Madrid. The fact that he will be entering the final year of his contract with PSG at the end of the season makes the possibility of signing him up even more realistic for the reigning La Liga champions.

To that end, the Merengues have been in touch with PSG and are now readying a player-plus-cash offer to land the World Cup winner. Real Madrid would be willing to offer €80 million plus Hazard in exchange for Mbappe’s services, as per the report.

This is not the first time an arrangement of this kind has been suggested, with reports last month also indicating that Real Madrid were happy to trade Hazard for Mbappe’s signing. And, it should not come as a surprise considering the minimal impact that the Belgian wing-wizard has had since his mega-money switch from Chelsea in 2019.

Throughout his stint in Spain, Hazard has been bogged down by injury and fitness issues, which have restricted him to just 34 appearances for Real Madrid in eighteen months, scoring a paltry four goals. It seems like Los Blancos are ready to cut their losses on the 30-year-old and use him to bring in Mbappe.

It now remains to be seen if Real Madrid do make a formal offer to sign Mbappe in the coming months and whether PSG are receptive to a player-plus-cash arrangement for their 22-year-old superstar.
