Transfer News: Real Madrid plan mega swoop for PSG star Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid have reportedly ramped up their efforts to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-German as they plan a summer deal for the Frenchman.

According to Brujula Deporte, Real Madrid see the summer window of 2021 as an ideal time to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. Los Blancos‘ goal-scoring prowess has been a subject of immense criticism of late and the Frenchman would be a welcomed signing at the club.

Ever since breaking through at AS Monaco in the 2016/17 season, when Mbappe guided them to a shock Ligue 1 title, the young star’s stock has only gone upwards. From securing a deal at one of the world’s biggest clubs, PSG, to winning the FIFA World Cup in 2018, Mbappe has become one of the hottest commodities in world football.

Since PSG’s narrow loss in the Champions League final, Mbappe and his club have dropped down a few levels. Mbappe’s recent form has recently seen him be at the receiving end of a lot of criticism. Given that a move to Real Madrid has been a long-time dream for the young talent, a summer move away from the French capital is certainly imaginable.

Moreover, recent comments made my PSG Director Leonardo Araujo in an interview with France Football have bolstered the Merengues‘ hopes as they vie for the Frenchman’s signature. Leonardo discussed the future of Mbappe, who has eighteen months left on his contract with the Les Parisiens, confirming that PSG do not intend to “beg” their current stars to stay at the club.

Instead, Leonardo claimed that PSG are an ambitious club and those that realise that and want to stay, will do so. In addition, with PSG also admittedly in pursuit of Lionel Messi, in what would most certainly be the most lucrative of deals, Mbappe could well be on his way to Real Madrid, if the deal for the Argentine goes through.

Since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid have faced a huge goalscoring problem, with the lion’s share of the burden of scoring goals resting on Karim Benzema. Mariano Diaz’s failure to impress and Eden Hazard’s inability to remain fit have been part of the problem. It has also been claimed that the Real Madrid faithful have already lost faith in the Belgian and are hoping to see his back soon.

Mbappe is a long-term target for Los Blancos and if they go on to acquire his services come summer, he would not only solve their goalscoring problems currently, but also prove to be a fix for years to come. What now remains to be seen is if Real Madrid do make a move for their priority target, or if they fail in their pursuit of the Frenchman.
