Transfer News: PSG prioritise summer move for Paul Pogba

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to land Manchester United star Paul Pogba in the summer, with Mauricio Pochettino identifying him as a top target.

According to Daily Star, Manchester United are running the risk of losing their star player Paul Pogba after the end of the season. The midfielder has had a difficult time upon his return to the Premier League and his misery at Old Trafford could come to an end in the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain ready to make a move.

Indeed, the French giants have identified Pogba as a top target following the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino, whose former Tottenham Hotspur side has faced the midfielder multiple times in the Premier League. Even the player himself is keen on leaving Old Trafford, with United equally willing to cash in on him this summer.

The club’s desire to offload Pogba doesn’t come as a surprise either as the Frenchman has struggled to justify his value with performances. Even in the ongoing campaign, the former Juventus star has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular for the Red Devils, falling behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Fred in the pecking order.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the past and for Manchester United, his potential departure could usher in a lot of things that could prove to be beneficial for Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer. Donny van de Beek, in particular, could be one of the potential beneficiaries of this deal.

The Dutchman has struggled with a lack of game-time since joining from Ajax in the summer. However, the midfielder could enjoy a more prominent role in the first-team should Pogba leaves the club. In addition, the Frenchman’s departure should also serve as a financial boost for Man United, who are seemingly interested in the services of Jack Grealish.

As for PSG, the arrival of Pogba could bring some much-needed quality in the midfield department that will see Julian Draxler leave the club following the end of his contract this summer. The German international has already been linked with a move away from Paris in January, while the likes of Leandro Paredes has not convinced with performances.

Pogba could thus potentially create a deadly midfield partnership alongside Marco Verratti while also giving him the opportunity to rekindle their career in his native France.
