Divock Origi, who is valued by Liverpool at £20 million, is reportedly wanted by Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan in the January window.

According to a report by Liverpool Echo, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan have emerged in pursuit of Divock Origi over a move in the January transfer window. The Belgian striker has a £20 million price tag, with Liverpool unlikely to stand in his way if he seeks a winter departure from Anfield.

Origi joined Liverpool from Lille in the summer of 2014 following a breakout campaign with Belgium at that year’s FIFA World Cup. His stock was at an all-time high when he ended runners-up in the list of nominees for the Golden Boy award that year. However, he had to wait till the 2018/19 season to establish a foothold in the Liverpool first-team setup.

That term, Origi scored some important goals as the Reds won the UEFA Champions League title, playing a key role in their triumph in Europe. Since then, though, Origi has steadily fallen down the pecking order and is now a mere bit-part player, having started just four games so far. His situation at Liverpool has alerted a number of clubs, with Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan interested in him.

Atletico Madrid’s pursuit of Origi is pretty straightforward, considering Diego Costa, who is now being linked with a shock move to Arsenal, has had his contract terminated by the club. That leaves Los Rojiblancos with former Liverpool superstar Luis Suarez as the only recognised striker, though the likes of Joao Felix, Angel Correa and Ivan Saponjic are also deployed in the strike partnership.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, could be in pursuit of Origi owing to the uncertain future of Ivan Perisic, while Lautaro Martinez is believed to still be on the radar of top clubs across Europe. As a result, it is not hard to see why the Nerazzurri might make a move for Origi, who is reportedly keen on leaving Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Apart from Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan, Wolves are also eyeing a move for Origi, Liverpool Echo have claimed, with Raul Jimenez a long-term absentee. The report further adds that Liverpool would prefer keeping hold of 25-year-old for the remainder of the ongoing season but will not stand in his way, if they receive a suitable offer.

Liverpool Echo have suggested that Origi, who was also touted to be part of a possible deal to sign Ozan Kabak from Schalke, has a £20 million price tag. What now remains to be seen is if any of the suitors end up making a move for the Belgian international in the summer, or if he stays put at Liverpool till the summer at the very least.
