Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. is reportedly on the radars of Arsenal over the possibility of a loan move in the January transfer window.
According to a report by Daily Star, Arsenal are considering the prospect of snapping up Vinicius Jr. in the January transfer window. The Real Madrid winger is a loan target for the struggling Premier League giants, as they look to bolster their attack this winter.
Vinicius Jr. joined Real Madrid from boyhood club Flamengo in the summer of 2018 as part of the youth revolution engineered by Florentino Perez. The Brazilian prodigy was initially supposed to be a part of the club’s Castilla side, but was fast-tracked into the first-team following a horrendous start to the season for Real Madrid.
Since then, the 20-year-old has been a regular member of the squad, but has not been able to nail down his spot in the side. And now, Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of pouncing on his situation in Zinedine Zidane’s squad, with the Real Madrid winger emerging as a loan target for the Gunners.
Arsenal are in dire straits at the moment following their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign. Mikel Arteta is struggling to galvanize the squad he has at his disposal, with attack being timid, to put it mildly. In fact, only three teams in the entire top-flight have a worse offensive record than the north Londoners, who are bizarrely just outside the relegation zone.
As a result, it is hardly surprising that Arsenal have failed to win each of their last seven Premier League games. To address the issues pertaining to attack, the Gunners had been linked with a move for Dominik Szoboszlai, but have now faced defeat in his pursuit, with RB Leipzig securing his services ahead of the January transfer window.
A move for Valencia striker Maxi Gomez has also been mooted, but Vinicius Jr. could be a viable target for Arsenal too, with his creative prowess. Having said that, his inconsistent end product might end up adding to Arsenal’s frustrations. Nevertheless, the Premier League outfit are keen on making a loan move for the Real Madrid winger.
Arsenal are already set to begin their January transfer business by signing Omar Rekik. What now remains to be seen is if they can strike a deal with Real Madrid over a possible loan move in next month, although amid the injury woes faced by Eden Hazard, swooping Vinicius Jr. away from Real Madrid might be a long shot. An interesting transfer saga on the cards.
