Transfer News: Real Madrid could offer Eden Hazard in deal to sign Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid are open to offering Eden Hazard as a makeweight in an attempt to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

According to El Chiringuito, Real Madrid could be willing to make a shock attempt to secure the services of Kylian Mbappe. The Paris Saint-Germain superstar is considered as one of the best attackers in world football, with his valuation enough to put off any top European club.

Real Madrid, however, are apparently willing to work out a potential player-plus-cash deal that could see Eden Hazard moving to PSG as a makeweight. The Spanish giants believe that the inclusion of the Belgian could significantly reduce the overall value of Mbappe’s potential deal or the “Operation Mbappe”.

It has been made no secret that Los Blancos have identified the PSG forward as the ideal solution to their offensive problems. The club has particularly struggled following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, with last summer’s marquee signing Hazard failing to live up to the expectations.

The Belgian, who arrived from Chelsea in a big-money move last year, saw his progress at Santiago Bernabeu marred by injuries. As a result, he could only muster just over 1,000 minutes of action in La Liga. He has featured in only three games in the new season as well, thus forcing Zinedine Zidane to rely on other options.

Therefore, it would be slightly bizarre on PSG’s part should they accept such a deal, given the injury-prone nature of Hazard. They’ve already been quite unfortunate to have Neymar out injured more than often than not, so the addition of another such player, combined with the departure of Mbappe could be hugely detrimental for a club that still harbours hope of European triumph.

As for Real Madrid, the potential arrival of the French international could serve as a massive boost for Zidane. The 48-year-old can utilise him as a wide attacker, where he could partner Vinicius Junior and fellow countryman Karim Benzema in a three-man offensive line.

Alternatively, Mbappe could be also considered as a long-term replacement for Benzema, whose contract at the Bernabeu expires in 2022. The PSG forward, at the age of just 21, has a decade in front of him and could potentially emerge as the next face of Real Madrid so it will definitely be interesting to see how this transfer saga transpires over the coming months.
