Edinson Cavani is in line for his full debut while Scott McTominay should return when Manchester United face Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday.

Manchester United will be eager to return to winning ways in the UEFA Champions League and take a step towards the Round of 16 when they play hosts to Istanbul Basaksehir at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. And, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not have any fresh injury concerns to deal with ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Luke Shaw continues to remain on the sidelines due to the hamstring injury he sustained ahead of the international break. Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard is self-isolating after being in contact with a positive coronavirus case. The big concern for Manchester United, though, is the availability of Paul Pogba.

Speaking to MUTV ahead of the game to reveal his team news, Solskjaer revealed that Pogba did not feature in the matchday squad against West Bromwich Albion due to a knock. The Manchester United boss also provided an update on Shaw and Lingard.

“We hope that the lads will recover quickly. Luke [Shaw] is out, Phil Jones [is] obviously out, still. Jesse is still self-isolating because he’s been in contact with a COVID positive. He’ll be back soon. I hope Paul is going to be available. He trained this morning. It’s still uncomfortable and [there’s] some pain, so we’ll make a decision on that in the morning [on Tuesday].”

Despite games coming thick and fast, Solskjaer is likely to keep changes to a minimum. One of the big shuffles will see Scott McTominay return in the midfield double pivot against Istanbul Basaksehir, where he will accompany Fred, with Nemanja Matic making way.

The other substantial change should see Edinson Cavani finally make his full debut. The Uruguayan striker ought to replace the struggling Anthony Martial as the spearhead of the Manchester United attack. Bruno Fernandes will play off of Cavani, with Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata being the two wide men, although Mason Greenwood will be in contention for the right-wing slot as well.

In defence, there are unlikely to be any changes made, with Alex Telles and Aaron Wan-Bissaka being the full-back pairing. Victor Lindelof and captain Harry Maguire should be stationed at the heart of the Manchester United defence, with David de Gea taking his place between the sticks ahead of Dean Henderson, who was picked in goal last time out against Istanbul Basaksehir.
