Paris Saint-Germain have made a bid of £25 million plus £5 million in add-ons for Arsenal right-back Héctor Bellerín.

According to a report published by The Guardian, Hector Bellerin has popped up on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar, with the French club willing to spill as much as £30 million including variables as their first bid.

Bellerin joined Arsenal from Barcelona’s youth ranks in 2011 as a 16-year-old and has gone on to make 158 appearances for their first team. During this nine-year period, Bellerin has provided cover in multiple positions like right wing-back, right winger and even on the left side apart from his favoured right-back slot.

The 25-year-old has also won three FA Cups and three FA Community Shields, winning the third of each in the last month.

Despite reaching his theoretical peak soon, Bellerin is a shadow of his former self right now, courtesy of a long-term ACL injury last season which ruled him out for an entire year, but has managed to retain his starting spot amidst it all.

That said, PSG are in the market looking to add depth to their defence, especially in the full-back positions. Last season, Thilo Kehrer and Thomas Meunier took on this role on the right side but failed to impress the Parc des Princes faithfuls, fundamentally because both of them are somewhat error-prone.

Thomas Tuchel requires all his players to contribute defensively, with the attackers pressing the frontline, and the midfielders continually falling deep to defend. His full-backs have to boast of incredible stamina and the ability to return to the backline quickly.

Thanks to his blistering pace, and stamina, Bellerin could be the perfect addition for Tuchel’s PSG, and certainly an upgrade over Kehrer.

Juventus and Bayern Munich have their right-back problems and are interested in the services of the Spaniard. The former have relied on an injury-prone Danilo and Juan Cuadrado in a makeshift role. The latter used Benjamin Pavard and Joshua Kimmich on the right even though it is neither’s preferred role.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been linked with a move away from Arsenal, with Wolverhampton Wanderers keeping tabs on him. But the departure of Bellerin – while far from complete right now – might force the Gunners to give him a contract extension. The recently-signed Cedric Soares remains the other alternative for the same position.
