Mohamed Salah is a doubt to start against Everton, but Alisson Becker and Fabinho should return when Liverpool take on Everton on Sunday.

Liverpool will be looking to take one more step towards winning the Premier League title when they lock horns with Everton in the Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park on Sunday evening. And, Jurgen Klopp has a near-full strength squad at his disposal ahead of his side’s first game since the resumption of the Premier League.

Ahead of the derby against local rivals Everton, there had been concerns over the availability of Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah, with both players missing training for the most part this week. Klopp was asked to comment on the availability of the duo, in addition to Alisson, during his pre-match press conference and he allayed all fears in a reassuring comment.

“They look all good. We had of course during the training period some little problems. That’s completely normal, how we always have, but none of them is ruled out for Sunday, I can say,” the Liverpool manager said.

Alisson has regained his fitness after recovering from a knee injury he had suffered in March. The Brazilian should, therefore, return in the Liverpool goal against Everton, with Adrian dropping to the bench. Alisson should be protected by a back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Robertson, who rejoined training ahead of Klopp’s presser.

In midfield, the trio of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum pick themselves, with Fabinho returning to the starting lineup after being benched during Liverpool’s last outing, in the UEFA Champions League against Atletico Madrid. The likes of James Milner, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita will be the backup options in midfield.

The only Liverpool player who is unavailable ahead of the Everton tie is Xherdan Shaqiri and Klopp provided an update on the Swiss international, saying, “He was injured and he is not ready but he is on a good way. Shaq has trained but not in massive parts with the rest of the team. He will not be [out for] long, but he is the only one out.”

Up ahead in attack, Salah’s place in the starting lineup remains a doubt, seeing as he has only trained on one day this week. Klopp is unlikely to take a chance with his talisman, with Divock Origi expected to take his place instead. But, there are no doubts over the availability of Salah’s usual partners, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, both of whom should start against Everton.
