Transfer News: Manchester United, PSG target Wilfred Ndidi not for sale

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who is a target for Manchester United and PSG, will not be sold by the club this summer.

According to an exclusive report from AllNigeriaSoccer.com, Leicester City will resist any offers for star midfielder Wilfred Ndidi in the summer. The Nigerian international is a transfer target for Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Ndidi, 23, has been one of the unsung heroes of Leicester City’s brilliant 2019-20 campaign under Brendan Rodgers. While the likes of Jamie Vardy, James Maddison have been garnering all the plaudits, the 23-year-old’s performances in the defensive midfield area have been critical to the Foxes’ rise to the third place in the league standings.

So far this season, Ndidi has made 29 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and setting up one more. His exploits have led to interest from Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, who are reportedly interested in signing the midfielder.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have recovered from a jittery start to the season and find themselves in the fifth spot in the Premier League. The performances of their midfield unit in Fred, Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay, along with January signing Bruno Fernandes, have been key to Manchester United’s turnaround since the turn of the year.

However, Matic is on the wrong side of 30 and will need to be phased out of the first-team and replaced eventually. And Ndidi, given his proven pedigree in the Premier League, would be the ideal man to take over from the giant Serb.

PSG, too, are intent on adding to their midfield unit heading into the next season. Ander Herrera has failed to hit the ground running since joining the club from Manchester United last summer, while Leandro Paredes hasn’t been able to make the desired impact during his time at the club.

This has forced manager Thomas Tuchel to often use centre-back Marquinhos in the middle of the park. And by adding Ndidi this summer, Les Parisiens were hoping to address this issue in the long-run.

However, as per the aforementioned report, Leicester have absolutely no intentions of offloading their midfield mainstay in the upcoming transfer window.

Ndidi, too, had recently claimed that he is very happy at the club. The midfielder still has four years remaining on his contract with the Foxes. With there being the possibility of Leicester playing in the Champions League next season, it makes sense that both parties are intent on continuing their fruitful partnership.

As for Manchester United and PSG are concerned, they will have to look elsewhere to boost their defensive midfield department before the next season comes along.
