Manchester United have been reportedly offered a chance to sign Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose, who is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

As per a report from Sky Sports, Manchester United have been offered Brazilian striker Willian Jose on loan by La Liga outfit Real Sociedad, amid serious interest from Red Devils’ rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United are in the market for a short-term option in the centre-forward area after Marcus Rashford was ruled out of action for three months with a stress fracture in his back. With Anthony Martial lacking consistency and Mason Greenwood still not experienced enough to lead the line week in week out, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to bring in a new forward.

Manchester United have been linked with a host of names during the transfer window, ranging from Valencia’s Maxi Gomez to former Watford striker Odion Ighalo, who plays in China currently. However, the Red Devils haven’t been able to close the deal on any of their reported targets so far.

And with less than 24 hours left for the transfer window to slam shut, the rumour mill is in overdrive, as reports claim that Manchester United have been offered an opportunity to land Willian Jose from Real Sociedad on loan till the end of the season.

The 28-year-old Willian Jose has been with Sociedad since 2016, racking up 130 appearances so far in which he has scored 53 goals and set up 13 more. The ongoing campaign has seen the Brazilian find the back of the net on eight occasions in 20 La Liga appearances.

However, Manchester United will have to do battle with former manager Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur side if they are to land Willian Jose. The North Londoners are also in the market for a new striker with star forward Harry Kane out injured, which has left them lightweight in the attacking department.

Willian Jose has been Tottenham’s main target in this window and negotiations with Real Sociedad have been going on, but no progress has been made so far. The Lilywhites have been quoted a figure of £25 million to sign the Brazilian striker permanently, which they are unwilling to shell out, leading to an impasse.

However, the report states that Tottenham are working on a potential loan deal for Willian Jose, with talks still ongoing with Sociedad. Amidst this, Manchester United have been given the opportunity to swoop in and sign the 28-year-old till the end of the season.

Manchester United completed the signing of Bruno Fernandes on Thursday and will be looking to bring in a striker before the transfer window closes. But, it remains to be seen if they pounce on the chance to sign Willian Jose or if they get beaten to the punch by Mourinho and Tottenham.
