Sadio Mane has been ruled out for Liverpool while Divock Origi will start again when the Reds take on West Ham United on Wednesday.
Liverpool will have the chance to stretch their lead atop the Premier League table to 19 points when they lock horns with West Ham United at the London Stadium on Wednesday night. And, Jurgen Klopp has no fresh injury concerns to contend with ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
The Liverpool boss had chosen to rotate his troops when the Reds took on Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup this past weekend. However, in the Premier League, all of the regulars are expected to start and should return against West Ham.
Alisson Becker will take his place in goal, replacing former West Ham goalkeeper Adrian, who will be on the bench. The defence will have the usual suspects as well, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson forming the full-back pairing once again, while Virgil van Dijk will once again have Joe Gomez for company at the heart of the Liverpool defence.
Fabinho failed to impress upon his return to the starting lineup against Shrewsbury. With the Brazilian still showing signs of rust, it is likely that he will find a place on the bench, with Jordan Henderson starting at the base of the three-man midfield.
The Liverpool captain will have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Georginio Wijnaldum for company in the middle of the park. As for attack, the visitors have faced a huge blow, with Mane ruled out of the contest. During his pre-match press conference, Klopp confirmed that Mane will miss the trip to West Ham as well as the contest against Southampton this weekend.
“Sadio will not be involved for West Ham and probably not for Southampton. After that he should be then fine. The week we have then after that is for him perfect to get back on track.”
“He has a small muscle tear, which is serious enough to keep him out. We were lucky with the injury as well, so it was not that serious. But of course, when you have three games in a week then that means he is out for these three games.”
With Mane unavailable, one of Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi will have the chance to make a rare Premier League start. Origi should get the nod against West Ham, starting on the left side of Liverpool’s three-pronged attack, with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah certain starters in the final third.
Liverpool Predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Origi
