Manchester United are reportedly plotting a £60 million bid to sign Arkadiusz Milik from Serie A giants, with a summer offer likely.

According to a report by The Sun, Manchester United are lining up a big money move to secure the services of Arkadiusz Milik. The Premier League heavyweights are formulating a £60 million offer to swoop the Polish striker away from Serie A giants Napoli, who are keen to tie him down to a new contract.

Milik joined Napoli from Ajax in the summer of 2016, a talented and promising striker who was rated very highly. However, his first two seasons with the Italian heavyweights were blighted by long-term injuries which halted his progress considerably.

In the current season, though, the Pole has not been hampered by fitness troubles as much, missing only eight games through injury. In the 12 matches that he has featured in, Milik has been in fine scoring form, finding the back of the net 10 times. These exploits have shone the spotlight on him, with Manchester United now interested in him.

Attack has blown hot and cold all season long for Manchester United, with Marcus Rashford the only senior player who has shown any semblance of consistency. Mason Greewnood has impressed, but the prodigious English striker is inexperienced and not nearly ready to start games week in week out.

Anthony Martial has led the line for Manchester United for much of the season, but has had the tendency to go missing many-a-times. As a result, the need to add competition for the mercurial Frenchman is necessary. To that end, Erling Braut Haaland was reportedly believed to be Manchester United’s primary target in January.

However, the Red Devils have faced defeat in pursuit of the talented Norwegian, who has joined Borussia Dortmund. Having had to turn their attention elsewhere, Manchester United now seem to have identified Milik as a possible target, if The Sun are to be believed.

In order to prise him away from Napoli, the Premier League heavyweights are preparing an offer worth £60 million. However, Manchester United might have to move quickly in pursuit of Milik, with the Serie A giants eager to tie him down to a new contract.

Milik’s current contract is set to run out in 18 months’ time. Manchester United, though, are hoping to swoop him away from San Paolo instead. However, any possible move is only likely to happen in the summer transfer window. For now, Manchester United appear to be interested in Milik and it remains to be seen how things progress, as they ready a £60 million bid.
