Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to return while Andrew Robertson is fit to start for Liverpool when they welcome Tottenham to Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool will be intent on getting back to winning ways in the Premier League when they play hosts to a struggling Tottenham Hotspur side at Anfield on Sunday evening. And, Jurgen Klopp is set to welcome back a key player into his side this weekend.

Trent Alexander-Arnold had missed the midweek trip to take on Genk due to an illness. But, the English full-back has recovered and is in line to return to the starting lineup when Tottenham pay Liverpool a visit.

But, the game may have come too soon for Joel Matip, who is facing a race against time to shrug off a knee complaint to make himself available for Sunday’s fixture. During his pre-match press conference, Klopp did provide an update on Alexander-Arnold and Matip, as well as Andrew Robertson, who picked up a knock earlier in the week in Belgium.

“Trent is fine. Or looked fine, if there is no setback. He was ill – ill enough to not travel with us, which is not a good sign, but yesterday he had a clearing session and if it is as it was yesterday then he should be fine. With Joel, we have to see. I didn’t see him yet. I don’t know 100 per cent. We just rested Robbo. We thought ‘that’s enough for today, 60 minutes’. He could do it and did it. He is fine.”

Alexander-Arnold should return to the right side of the Liverpool defence, with Robertson starting on the opposite flank. Matip might not be risked against Tottenham, meaning Dejan Lovren will partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence. There is no looking past the fit-again Alisson Becker in goal.

Up ahead in midfield, a couple of changes are in order, with Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum in line to start after being benched against Genk. Wijnaldum should come into the side in place of Naby Keita, while Liverpool captain Henderson replaces Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain despite the former Arsenal superstar’s match-winning brace.

Fabinho is a certain starter in the holding midfield spot and will partner Henderson and Wijnaldum. The three-pronged attack, meanwhile, is the easiest of picks, with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane being certain starters.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane
