Liverpool have reportedly slapped a €15 million price tag on Croatian international Dejan Lovren, who is a target for AC Milan and AS Roma.
As per a report from Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have set an asking price of €15 million plus bonuses which would take the valuation up to €20 million, for seasoned campaigner Dejan Lovren. The Croatian centre-half is wanted by Serie A heavyweights AS Roma and AC Milan.
The 30-year-old Lovren has been with Liverpool for five years now, having joined the club from Southampton back in the summer of 2014. Till date the defender has racked up 170 appearances for the Merseyside giants, scoring seven goals and assisting four more.
Having been a regular in the backline for most of his time with Liverpool, Lovren has found himself out of favour over the past year or so. Injuries combined with the emergence of Joe Gomez and the impressive form of Joel Matip has seen the Croatian centre-back fall down the pecking order. He was not a part of the matchday squad for the Reds’ opening day fixture against Norwich City.
While the 30-year-old still has two years left on his contract with Liverpool, the Merseysiders are open to allowing him leave before the end of the European transfer window. And there has been substantial interest in him mostly from Serie A, with AC Milan leading the way.
Milan lost Cristian Zapata this summer and will be without Mattia Caldara for the first half of the season, as he recovers from his ACL injury. This has led them to prioritize a move for a centre-back before the end of the transfer window, with Lovren emerging as a potential candidate.
They will, however, have to battle fellow Serie A giants AS Roma, who have also shown an interest in signing the 30-year-old defender. The Giallorossi saw Kostas Manolas leave this summer and while they have brought in Gianluca Mancini from Atalanta, they are also monitoring Lovren’s situation.
And according to the report from Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have now told what the two clubs will have to shell out if they want to acquire Lovren’s services. The reigning European champions have set a price tag of €15 million plus bonuses for the Croatian. It now remains to be seen if either of Milan or Roma are willing to match that valuation before the transfer window closes.
