Manchester United reportedly rejected the chance to sign Juventus star Moise Kean, who is set to join Premier League rivals Everton in a £36 million deal.
According to an exclusive report by 90 min, Manchester United had the chance to sign Moise Kean from Juventus in this summer’s transfer window. But, the Premier League heavyweights snubbed the opportunity to secure the services of the Juventus forward, who is now set to join Everton.
Moise Kean joined Juventus from Torino in 2010 and made rapid strides within the youth setup before breaking into the first-team squad aged just 16. That season the Italian went on to become the first player from this millennium to feature in both a top five European league as well as the UEFA Champions League.
Having shown a lot of promise, Kean was sent out on loan to Hellas Verona for the 2017-18 season before being a part of the first-team setup at the Allianz Stadium last term. The player managed to feature just 17 times, but scored seven strikes at a rate of a goal every 94 minutes. But, he is now set for a move to the Premier League, although he very well could have landed at Manchester United.
The Red Devils are set to lose the services of Romelu Lukaku, who is coincidentally set to join Juventus in a deal that is likely to have spelled the end of Kean at the club. Paulo Dybala will head the other way in what is set to be a swap deal between the Bianconeri and Manchester United.
But, Dybala is not an out and out striker, meaning there could be scope for Manchester United to sign a striker to directly replace Lukaku. Having said that, on the basis of pre-season, it looks like Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will be the two strikers for Manchester United, with Mason Greenwood being a backup option.
The Premier League heavyweights thus, seem to be adequately stocked with enough strikers, meaning there is no real need for a player like Kean. And, Manchester United have indeed turned down the chance to sign the talented striker, even though he was offered by his agent Mino Raiola to them.
The suggestions by 90 Min come in the wake of comments by the player’s father Biorou Jean Kean, claiming that he had blocked a move to Manchester United several years ago. The Italian is now set to join Everton this summer in a £36 million deal, with £27.5 million being paid upfront.
After a short time with the Juventus first-team setup, Moise Kean is set to make his way to the Premier League. While he is poised to make his way to Everton, his destination could very well have been Manchester United as well, and it remains to be seen how he fares with the Toffees.
