Paulo Dybala, who is a target for Manchester United, is reportedly set to be asked to take the move to Old Trafford by Juventus, for them to sign Romelu Lukaku.
According to renowned Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Manchester United have made a breakthrough in their bid to sign Paulo Dybala. Juventus are open to the idea of selling Dybala to the Premier League heavyweights in the hope of securing the services of Romelu Lukaku.
Dybala has made giant strides since arriving in Italy back in 2012. Over the last seven years, the Argentine international has developed considerably, and is now one of the best forwards in Europe. It is during his spell at Juventus that the player has drawn comparisons with Lionel Messi.
But, after the 2018-19 season, the 25-year-old’s stock has taken a bit of a beating, with just 10 goals and 5 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions. Dybala though, remains a hot property in the transfer market, with Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved confirming that they have received some offers for the player. And, Manchester United seem to be showing an interest in him.
Dybala could come of use for Manchester United in a number of ways. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer showing a preference towards the 4-2-3-1 formation, the 25-year-old could be deployed in the no. 10 role, playing off Marcus Rashford while posing a constant goalscoring threat.
Alternatively, Dybala could also be the long sought solution for the right wing slot or be used as a false nine, if Solskjaer employs the 4-3-3 formation. The player is thus, a viable target to pursue for Manchester United, who now are set to receive a major boost in their bid to sign him.
Juventus are ready to part ways with Dybala, with new manager Maurizio Sarri deeming him to be surplus to requirements. The Bianconeri are now waiting for him to return from vacation to ask him to complete the switch to Manchester United this summer.
The Serie A champions are keen on securing the services of Romelu Lukaku and are battling Inter Milan for his services, with an exit from Old Trafford looming large after being left out of Manchester United’s squad to face Kristiansund. But, Juventus are eager to reduce his €85 million asking price, which is where Dybala comes in.
Seeing as Manchester United are interested in signing the Argentine, Juventus are looking to do away with the Lukaku fee by offering Dybala in return. The move would also see the Italian giants pocket €15 million, in what could be a deal that benefits all parties involved.
But, Dybala wants to stay put at Juventus and fight for his future at the club, an obstacle that Manchester United will need to get past to land him. For now, the Red Devils have made massive strides towards securing the services of the 25-year-old and it remains to be seen if the Juventus’s interest in Lukaku pays dividends for all four parties involved in the days to come.
