Liverpool have confirmed the arrival of Harvey Elliott from Fulham after the player decided against extending his contract with the Londoners.
Liverpool have finally confirmed the signing of Harvey Elliott from Fulham. The news was broken a few weeks ago, stating that Liverpool had secured the future of Harvey, with the player choosing to run down his Fulham contract. The news has finally been confirmed.
This means that the compensation is thought to have been agreed, although the official announcement does not mention the amount. The announcement does entail though, that the player will be available for their friendly against Napoli and will then be part of the subsequent training camp in Evian.
Elliott seemed positive after completing his move to Liverpool and posted his feelings on Instagram.
“I am so happy to be able to announce that I have signed for Liverpool FC. To have joined the club that I supported as a boy is a dream come true for me and all of my family and it’s an incredible feeling to now officially be able to call myself a Red!”
“I can’t wait to get started and it will be a truly special feeling to pull the famous red jersey on. I’ll work as hard as I possibly can for the club and I feel Anfield is the perfect place for me to develop and progress as a player.”
Harvey Elliott became the youngest player to make his senior debut in the Premier League at the age of 16 years and 30 days for Fulham. The youngster ended the 2018-19 season with three senior caps to his name as Fulham were condemned to spend the 2019-20 campaign in the Championship.
The 16-year-old seemingly did not want to spend a year in the Championship and has chosen to sign for Liverpool. But, the Reds are thought to be in line to provide millions in compensation to Fulham, with the player having made his senior debut for the club.
It will be interesting to see if the 16-year-old will form a part of the first-team setup this season, especially with Jurgen Klopp looking to add an attacker to his squad.
