Juventus have reportedly rejected a €50 million bid from Tottenham Hotspur for Argentine star Paulo Dybala, who is also a transfer target for Manchester United.
As per a report from Italian publication La Stampa, Tottenham Hotspur have had a €50 million offer for Juventus star Paulo Dybala rejected. The 25-year-old is also a transfer target for Spurs’ Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Dybala’s future at Juventus has been a huge subject of speculation all summer. The Argentine international had an underwhelming 2018-19 campaign, as his game time took a hit following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, finishing with just five goals in the Serie A.
Dybala was believed to be keen on staying put at Juventus following Massimiliano Allegri’s departure. However, having held talks with new manager Maurizio Sarri, the Argentine isn’t convinced about his role under the Italian and is open to a transfer this summer.
Dybala’s potential availability has garnered huge interest from Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs’ boss Mauricio Pochettino is admittedly a great admirer of his compatriot. With Tottenham lacking a top quality centre-forward apart from Harry Kane, Dybala is seen as a key addition to the squad ahead of the next season.
To that end, the North London outfit have made an offer of €50 million to secure the 25-year-old’s services. However, they have been met with a rejection from Juventus, who value their prized asset around the £80 million mark. But, with Dybala open to a switch, Spurs are expected to come back with an improved offer in the coming weeks.
However, Tottenham will have to battle with fellow Premier League outfit Manchester United in order to sign Dybala from Juventus. The Red Devils’ manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a huge admirer of the Argentine and sees him as the missing piece of creative element in his side.
Moreover, Manchester United are preparing for the potential departure of Romelu Lukaku, who is on the radars of Inter Milan and Juventus. In fact, the Bianconeri are willing to offer Dybala to the Mancunian outfit in a direct swap deal in order to secure Lukaku’s signing.
The lure of Champions League football and the presence of Pochettino is likely to give Tottenham an edge in the chase for Dybala. However, Juventus’ interest in signing Lukaku and their willingness to push ahead with a swap deal with Manchester United for the Belgian could throw a spanner in the works for the North London outfit.
With just two weeks left for the English transfer window to slam shut, it will be interesting to see if either of Manchester United or Tottenham are able to sign Dybala.
