Barcelona superstar Ousmane Dembele is reportedly uninterested in a summer exit from Camp Nou amid interest from Bayern Munich.

According to a report by German publication Bild, Ousmane Dembele is ready to stay put and fight for his place at Barcelona despite the arrival of Antoine Griezmann. The French superstar is being tailed by Bayern Munich, who are set to be snubbed by him in favour of a Camp Nou stay.

Ousmane Dembele arrived at Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017 full of hope and promise of perhaps being the Neymar replacement that the Blaugrana were desperately seeking that summer. But, what has transpired in the subsequent seasons has been anticlimactic.

A myriad of injuries have forced Dembele to spend nearly half his stint as a Barcelona player on the sidelines. As a result, he has only managed to start 44 games across the two seasons he has been at Camp Nou, meaning he has been nowhere near his levels from his solitary campaign at Dortmund, let alone coming close to replace Neymar.

This summer, with rumours of a shock Neymar return, in addition to Antoine Griezmann’s capture, running rampant, Dembele’s future at Barcelona has come under a cloud. And fellow European giants Bayern Munich are keen on securing the services of the 22-year-old.

The Bundesliga champions have seen Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery bring an end to their glittering time at the club, following a decade of success together on the two flanks. The duo’s departure has left Niko Kovac with just three wingers at his disposal – Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Alphonso Davies.

With Davies still not fully integrated in the first-team setup, the need to sign at least one top class winger is evident. To that end, Bayern Munich are reportedly plotting a move to swoop Dembele away from Barcelona this summer.

In fact, Die Roten’s interest in Dembele was also confirmed recently by Kovac himself, meaning a move could be in the offing. But, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is set to be a dampener for Bayern, as he wishes to continue as a Barcelona player and fight for his place at the club.

The fact that his competition has been bolstered does not faze Dembele, as per the report, and he wants to show that Barcelona did not make a mistake by shelling out the big bucks for him. As for Bayern, there might be very little they would be able to do about their interest in the Frenchman.

The Bavarians must now shift their attention towards other priority targets quickly, with a number of other wingers linked as well, seeing as Ousmane Dembele could be set to stay put at Barcelona beyond the summer, unless there’s trouble in paradise.
