Juventus have reportedly opened negotiations with Mino Raiola to sign French international Paul Pogba from Manchester United this summer.
According to a report by Sky Sports, Juventus have stepped up their interest in Paul Pogba ahead of the summer transfer window. The Serie A champions have established contact with Mino Raiola, the French international’s agent, over a possible move to sign him from Manchester United.
Paul Pogba arrived back at Manchester United after a four-year spell at Juventus, who had signed him as a prodigious teenager in search of first-team football. At United, the 26-year-old has endured a topsy turvy second coming, wherein he has not always been a consistent performer.
It was more of the same this past season, which saw Pogba clash with Jose Mourinho before being unleashed in the early days of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. By the end of a miserable term for Manchester United, the French international had enjoyed his best ever campaign, with 16 goals and 11 assists in 47 appearances.
However, with Manchester United failing to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, which has created a lot of uncertainties at Old Trafford. At the centre of all these uncertainties, is Pogba, who has been linked with a move away from the club. While Real Madrid have been named as a suitor, Juventus also seem interested in re-signing the player.
A crucial summer beckons the Bianconeri, with Massimiliano Allegri parting ways with the club. Maurizio Sarri is reportedly the favourite to be the next Juventus boss, and it looks like midfield is set for some remodelling, with Aaron Ramsey already set to arrive at the Allianz Stadium.
With Sami Khedira and Blaise Matuidi in their thirties, the Serie A champions could do with some injection of relative youth, which is where Pogba comes in. And, as per recent reports, Juventus have even considered offering a player-plus-cash deal for the French international.
The latest development suggests contact with the midfielder’s agent Mino Raiola, with Manchester United being informed of the Bianconeri’s interest in their talisman. A potential fee though, has not been mentioned, nor has the Red Devils’ reaction to Juventus’ interest.
It now remains to be seen how things move forward in the coming weeks, as the uncertainties surrounding Paul Pogba continue to escalate. Juventus though, seem serious in the French international, having already contacted Mino Raiola over his client.
