Transfer Rumour: Arsenal enter Ayoze Perez chase

Arsenal have reportedly entered the chase for Ayoze Perez, with the Newcastle United superstar also a summer target for a couple of Serie A giants.

Unai Emery is set to look for valuable additions to his squad in the summer. And if the report from The Sun is to be believed, Arsenal are looking to pursue Ayoze Perez’s signature when the summer transfer window opens. The Newcastle United superstar is also reported to be on the radar of Inter Milan and Napoli.

Ayoze Perez has just hit the best stride of form in his footballing career this season. Since joining Newcastle United from Tenerife in 2014. The Spanish forward has just hit double figures in a single league campaign for the first time in his career, with 11 goals to his name, including a hattrick against Southampton in April.

With Perez finally starting to take the next step, the superstar himself hinted at potential offers in the summer while also providing subtle hints that he is open to a move in the upcoming transfer window.

Perez said, “In the summer there is going to be options. That means I have done something well. I’ll be up for hearing what is coming. I can hear what is coming for me, what they offer for me, but it doesn’t mean I am going to leave 100 per cent at the end of the season.”

That being said, the likes of Inter Milan, Napoli and Arsenal have already been named as suitors for the 25-year-old in the summer.

Unai Emery does have Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the two centre forwards in his squad. But, Aaron Ramsey is already joining Juventus while Arsenal are looking to offload Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer, which will leave a void for attackers that can play behind the striking duo.

The Gunners manager is aware he will be strapped for cash, with the Arsenal board set to provide a very tight budget for the upcoming transfer window. Thus, Emery will look to add to the funds via player sales and look for value-for-money deals, which could see Perez being targeted.

The 25-year-old has immense experience in English football and could be available for £25 million, which is what Newcastle value him at, as per the report, a fee that will be comparably less considering what players go for in the current market conditions.

A deal for Ayoze Perez would allow Emery to add a player with considerable Premier League experience and one who is only just starting to create a new ceiling in terms of performance without burning a hole in their transfer budget. The Gunners will have to battle Inter Milan and Napoli in the summer.

But, the prospect of remaining in the Premier League, one that Perez has become accustomed to, will aid Arsenal’s cause, if they do come knocking at Newcastle United’s door for the 25-year-old Spaniard.
