Wolves are reportedly set to launch an attempt to land Victor Lindelof from fellow Premier League outfit Manchester United this summer.

As per an exclusive report by TEAMtalk, Wolves have set their sights towards Manchester United in a bid to land a central defender in the summer transfer window. The Premier League outfit are keen on signing Victor Lindelof, who was also the subject of their interest last year.

Lindelof joined Manchester United from Benfica in the summer of 2017, with Jose Mourinho identifying him as a long-term solution at the heart of the defence. The Swedish defender took time to settled in, with his maiden campaign not going as per plan. But, after getting over the teething problems, and criticism from several pundits, he has not looked back.

The player has arguably been the best centre-back for Manchester United this season, having become a regular for Mourinho before the manager’s dismissal from the helm at Old Trafford. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer though, he has stepped it up a notch, having missed just four of the 24 games that the Norwegian has overseen.

Lindelof’s rise in stature seems to be getting noticed, but the interest in him does not come from one of the top clubs in Europe. Wolves are keen on swooping the 24-year-old away from Manchester United as they aim to continue rising up the echelons of English football.

The Midlands club has already made giant strides on their return to the Premier League, with an unprecedented seventh-placed finish – and subsequent European football next season – looking likely. But, Nuno Espirito Santo is keen on continue making improvements to his squad to break the dominance of the ‘Big Six’ sides.

To that end, he has identified Lindelof as the ideal candidate to bolster central defence. Wolves are of the opinion that with Manchester United eyeing central defensive reinforcements in the summer, Lindelof could be expendable, meaning they could possibly land him.

But, it remains to be seen if either the club or the player are open to the idea of parting ways. However, with the Swede being one of the first names on the team sheet at Old Trafford, a move away from Manchester United to join Wolves might never see the light of the day.
