Real Madrid are reportedly considering a summer move for Juventus striker Moise Kean in order to strengthen their forward line for the new season.
Spanish publication OK Diario have claimed the presence of interest from Real Madrid in Juventus striker Moise Kean. The teenage striker has emerged as an option for the Spanish giants, with Zinedine Zidane scouring the prospect of a summer move for the forward.
Moise Kean has been labelled a wonderkid and one to watch since his early days. He became the first player born after the millennium to play in the Champions League, to play and score in Europe’s top five leagues. His hype has been backed by his talent, with Kean already an Italian international.
The 19-year-old also became the first player born after the turn of the millennium to score for the Italian National Team and has a decent record of 2 goals in 3 international caps. The 2018-19 campaign has seen him break into the Juventus setup successfully, with 4 goals and an assist in just 6 Serie A games.
But, the 19-year-old recently came into the news after being prone to racial chants from Cagliari fans during a Serie A encounter. The player showed immense maturity but is likely to have been unsettled by the backlash or comments he received from his own manager Massimilano Allegri and teammate Leonardo Bonucci.
Real Madrid have to solve problems in their attack. Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure has left a gaping hole, one which Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio have been unable to plug. While Vinicius Jr. has emerged as a strong option, there still appears to be a lack of goals in the Real Madrid lineup, which is alarming for a club of their stature.
Karim Benzema needs to have an able deputy, one who can take over from the Frenchman when he is out of form and in due time. Zinedine Zidane has reportedly earmarked Kean as the striker he wants to bring to the Bernabeu and is urging Real Madrid to move for the 19-year-old.
Kean’s contract with Juventus runs till 2020, meaning he would have just a year left on his deal in the summer. And he would love to get away from Italy, which has produced alarming cases of racist chants and abuse at players in the 2018-19 campaign.
The player will not cost nearly as much as the other targets Real Madrid have on their agenda, with names like Harry Kane doing the rounds. At 19, Kean is coachable and the racism incident has shown that he has the right mentality to succeed. This move could turn out to be a masterstroke from Real Madrid, should they actually decide to follow through on their interest.
