Transfer Rumour: Arsenal plotting summer swoop for Ryan Fraser

Arsenal are reportedly considering a summer swoop to land Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser in the summer transfer window to add width to their attack.

The Mirror have speculated that Ryan Fraser’s name is high on the summer transfer agenda at Arsenal. The Gunners are looking to add width to their attack for the new season and are reportedly scouring the prospect of a summer move for the Bournemouth winger.

The report iterates that while Arsenal are looking for a replacement for Aaron Ramsey for the 2019-20 campaign, there is also a need to add natural wide players and options other than the two forwards who can chip in with goals for the team.

Ryan Fraser has had an interesting journey thus far. Brought in by Bournemouth in 2013, the youngster broke into the first-team setup and established himself truly in the 2016-17 season, which served as his breakout campaign. Bournemouth showed no signs of slowing down in the Premier League and Fraser has since developed into an underrated wing wizard.

The 25-year-old has played each and every league game for Bournemouth this season and his tally of 6 goals and 10 assists have helped the Cherries’ cause a lot. His form is now beginning to draw interest from the top end of the league, with Arsenal reportedly scouring the prospect of a summer move for Fraser.

Arsenal do not have any wide options in attack, which has forced Unai Emery to use Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alex Iwobi out wide along with playmakers like Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey, at times, whenever the Spaniard has chosen to field a single striker formation.

The Gunners will have a tight budget and are thus, looking at value-for-money options to target in the summer, like 2018. Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira have been successes at large in midfield and Sokratis has become a starter for Arsenal as well, which really points to a solid transfer policy.

Ryan Fraser is already accustomed to Premier League football and has shown signs that he is still peaking and is yet to reach his true potential. The 25-year-old could provide the best years of his footballing career to Arsenal.

Bournemouth though, will not let Fraser go for cheap, if at all. The Scottish winger has become a key part of the squad at Dean Court and Eddie Howe will likely do all he can to retain his man.

Tottenham are also reportedly in the fray, as per the Mirror’s report. It will be interesting to see how the summer pans out for Ryan Fraser and Arsenal. The Gunners might just come in with a bid, if they fail to find a budget addition to their wings in the summer transfer window.
