Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has responded to his criticism by Louis van Gaal, citing that everyone has the right to their opinions.

As reported by Daily Mail, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has chosen to hit back at Louis van Gaal following the former Dutch manager’s explosive comments about the Norwegian’s style of play. The newly-appointed Manchester United boss has iterated that everyone has the right to their opinions while disagreeing with van Gaal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has overseen a marvellous turnaround in fortunes at Manchester United since replacing Jose Mourinho back in December. In almost four months that have followed, the Red Devils have amassed more points than any other side in the Premier League, more than even Liverpool.

It has also been a memorable stint so far due to United’s fantastic comeback win over PSG in the UEFA Champions League. And, due to the impact that he has had, the Premier League club have handed him the job of managing the club on a full-time basis.

The Norwegian though, has his fair share of detractors as well, none more so than former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, who recently claimed that the Red Devils have continued to play in a defensive setup under the tutelage of Solskjaer.

But, Solskjaer has decided to hit back at Van Gaal in a respectful manner, insisting that everyone has a right to their opinions while also disagreeing with the points raised by the retired manager.

Speaking in the aftermath of his side’s 2-1 win over Watford, Solskjaer said, “van Gaal is entitled to his opinion. We’ve been looking at games. Some games, we’ve pressed really high and won the ball up there and dominated. It’s about where you win the ball.

“You want to defend, to win the ball to go forward. You have to win the ball to attack and for me there’s two ways. Can you attack quickly, like we did today — why not? As long as your intention is, when you win the ball, to attack.”

Indeed, Solskjaer’s words would resonate with the Manchester United fans, who have seen a drastic shift in the style of play from Jose Mourinho to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Louis van Gaal’s criticism does seem a bit unfounded, with the current incumbent giving a fitting response to the Dutchman.
