Manchester United are reportedly set to rekindle their interest in Mexican attacker Hirving Lozano, who is a top target for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

As per a report from Daily Mirror, Manchester United have been monitoring PSV Eindhoven and Mexico forward Hirving Lozano for a number of years now and could be set to reignite their interest in him ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old Lozano burst onto the scene with boyhood club Pachuca, before switching to Dutch heavyweights PSV back in the summer of 2017. Since moving to Netherlands, the Mexican international has carved out a reputation for himself as one of the finest young attacking players in Europe.

Lozano has had a prolific 2018-19 campaign so far. The forward has found the back of the net on 19 occasions in 34 matches across all competitions, while laying on 9 assists as well, impressing with his all-round game in the final third. This has led to a lot of interest in Lozano, with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal being linked with him recently.

A report from Italian outlet CalcioNapoli24 claimed last week that Manchester United had also entered the chase for the highly talented 23-year-old, before adding that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was named the Red Devils’ permanent manager on Thursday, is a huge admirer of the Mexican international.

Given Manchester United’s lack of natural options on the right wing, the Norwegian clearly sees it as an area to strengthen in the summer transfer window and had reportedly asked the club to make a move for Lozano as soon as it became clear that he would be getting the manager’s job on full-time basis.

In the wake of these reports, Pachuca sporting director Marco Garces has revealed that Manchester United have been long-term admirers of Lozano and have been monitoring his progress for a number of years.

In an interview with Gonfialarete, Garces said, “I can’t say anything exact on Hirving’s future, as he will have to decide with his attorney and his family, who I know have always been influential in his decisions.”

“Who will be his next team? What I can tell you regarding Manchester United is that I definitely know that they hold him in high regard, and not just recently. They have known the player for many years, and not just from his time at PSV. They know exactly the level he can reach.”

Judging by Garces’ statements, it is quite evident that Manchester United have had their eyes on Lozano for quite a long time now. And with Solskjaer also keen on signing the 23-year-old, a move could very well be on the horizon, especially with the player having revealed his admiration for the Red Devils in an interview a few months ago.
