Juventus are reportedly ready to offer a Manchester United escape route to Alexis Sanchez, albeit at much lower wages than what he currently earns
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Alexis Sanchez could be given the opportunity to bring an end to his frustrations at Manchester United. Juventus are interested in signing the struggling Chilean in the summer transfer window, but are unwilling to match his current salary.
Alexis Sanchez arrived at Manchester United last year amid lot of hype, having established himself as a bonafide superstar in the Premier League during his time at Arsenal. But, what has since transpired has all the makings of the swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan being arguably the worst ever.
In 41 appearances across all competitions, Sanchez has managed a paltry return of just 5 goals and 9 assists. To make matters worse, the injuries are piling up and restricting his game time considerably. All of it has led to widespread speculation suggesting that the player’s time is up at Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is primed to be named the next full-time manager at Manchester United, who are reportedly preparing a £6 million compensation package for Molde. And, the current interim boss is believed to have seen enough of Sanchez to determine that he does not feature in his plans for next season.
Juventus, however, have emerged as a possible destination for the 30-year-old, with Calciomercato claiming that the Bianconeri are willing to offer him an escape route out of Old Trafford. But, with the attacking department already being stacked, it is difficult to see how the Chilean will fit in.
Juan Cuadrado and Mario Mandzukic are in their thirties and beyond the duo, Massimiliano Allegri has just four players for effectively three positions on the pitch. Having said that, Sanchez too, is on the wrong side of 30, and will only be a short-term solution for the Juventus boss.
Nevertheless, if signed Sanchez will bring a wealth of experience to the Serie A heavyweights, which also includes a previous stint in Italy with Udinese. However, there is a stumbling block in their pursuit of the Manchester United struggler, as Juventus are not ready to match his €20 million-a-year wages.
The Bianconeri are, in fact, adamant that he will have to take a pay cut if he is to make his way to the Allianz Stadium. For now, it looks like Alexis Sanchez could leave Manchester United in the summer, although it remains to be seen if he is ready to play for a much lower pay package at Juventus.
