Arsenal are reportedly scouring for offers to push through the exit of star playmaker Mesut Ozil in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Daily Telegraph, Arsenal are working alongside intermediaries to find a club for Mesut Ozil ahead of the summer transfer window. The German playmaker has been out of favour with current manager Unai Emery, who is open to the idea of letting the player leave the club in the summer.

Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in a then club record £42.5 million deal in the summer of 2013. But, while he has shown glimpses of his class and creative genius over the last six years or so, the former German international has also frustrated in equal measure with his inconsistencies and the tendency to switch off in the big games.

The 2018-19 season, however, has been by far the worst for Ozil at Arsenal, with injuries and poor form forcing him to miss as many games that he has played. And, over the course of the season, the player has found himself falling out of favour with Unai Emery, who does not see the star playmaker fit his system, as per the report.

Ozil’s situation at Emirates though, has now become so untenable that the Gunners are now scouring for ways to get him off the books when the summer transfer window opens. These developments are in tune with reports ahead of the winter window, when the 30-year-old was reportedly linked with a January exit from Arsenal.

The report from Telegraph suggests that the North Londoners are in contact with intermediaries, who have been tasked with finding a club for their star playmaker, whose £350,000-a-week wages are starting to become a burden. It also adds that the Premier League heavyweights are now ruing their decision to hand Ozil the bumper deal last year.

However, the £350,000-a-week wages also make it difficult for Arsenal to offload the German superstar, although the Gunners are hoping his sale can help them with their summer budget, which will be around £50 million.

Mesut Ozil is in a limbo at Arsenal, as things continue to go from bad to worse. If the report indeed turns out to be true, that is if the Gunners are finding a way to offload him, Ozil’s stint at the Emirates could very well be coming to an end in the summer.
