Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves the full-time Manchester United job according to Fulham manager, Claudio Ranieri.

As reported by The Sun, who have quoted him from his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Manchester United,  Claudio Ranieri has had his say on the vacant top job at Old Trafford. The Fulham boss has iterated that current interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the right fit for the managerial hotseat at the club, pointing towards their recent run of results.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer returned to Manchester United during one of their most delicate periods in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. Jose Mourinho, whose appointment was seen as a sure shot way to return to the summit of English football, was sacked following a tumultuous start to the season, with the Norwegian appointed as the caretaker manager in his stead.

Under Solskjaer, the Red Devils have been a far cry from the stuttering side that Mourinho had overseen in the first half of the season. In fact, Manchester United are yet to lose a game that Solskjaer has managed, winning nine of the ten games under his tutelage, with the only blip coming in a 2-2 draw against Burnley last month.

The unbeaten run has not only got the winning feeling back at Old Trafford, but has also restored the smile on the faces of fans and players alike. And, as per widespread reports, Solskjaer is now very much in the running to be appointed as the permanent manager in the summer, with the positive run of results boosting his case.

Now, Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri has had his say ahead of his side’s league meeting with Manchester United on Saturday. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the former Premier League winner pointed towards the positive performances in recent weeks.

“He deserves it at the moment. He shows the players are with him. Manchester has changed the mentality, why not? The result speaks for him. All victories and one draw, the players change their mind, they are more involved and they are fighting together.”

Ranieri’s comments do make sense, with Manchester United now playing a refreshing brand of football that has not been consistently seen since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. Now, with a top four finish being a realistic objective, a strong end to the season is bound to boost the chances of Solskjaer as far as the full-time job is concerned.

As of now, however, Solskjaer is simply at Manchester United on ‘loan’ from Molde, who will be hoping to have their manager back in time for next season. But, it remains to be seen if the Norwegian ends up remaining at Old Trafford on a permanent basis instead.
