Arsenal have reportedly joined Tottenham in pursuit of Jack Clarke as the race to snap up the highly-rated Leeds United star heats up.

If the report from Daily Mail is to be believed, Tottenham have competition in the form of North London rivals Arsenal in their pursuit of Jack Clarke. The highly-rated Leeds United star is on the radar of several top-flight English clubs after a brilliant campaign under current boss Marcelo Bielsa.

Emanating from the Leeds United youth setup, Jack Clarke has taken  Championship by storm in what is his debut senior season at the club. Under the tutelage of renowned manager Marcelo Bielsa, Clarke has not only managed to create a place for himself but also establish himself as a key player for the iconic English outfit.

While his return of 2 goals and 2 assists is modest to say the least, impressing Marcelo Bielsa is no small feat, that too in what is his senior breakthrough campaign for Leeds United. The form has also brought forth interest from top-flight clubs, with Arsenal and Tottenham headlining the chase.

Tottenham have become a staple club for young players in the lower leagues in England to dream for, especially after the success story of Dele Alli. Besides Alli though, Spurs have indeed showcased a penchant to breed the youngsters into the first-team setup under Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs also have a crisis at hand, what with Harry Kane and Dele Alli injured. Son Heung-min has returned after what was a disappointing AFC Asian Cup campaign and is unlikely to be emotionally ready for the big games ahead.

Arsenal have a crisis of their own, with Unai Emery lacking natural options on the wing. This is starting to affect the playing style, with a visible lack of directness to Arsenal’s play at times. With their pursuit of other wingers not really going according to plan, the Gunners might come in for Jack Clarke.

Leeds United though, have reportedly slapped a £12 million asking price on the 18-year-old, who, according to a public response via Twitter by his agent Ian Harte, is going nowhere.

Arsenal have an empty purse according to reports, which makes it difficult to believe that the Gunners would go after Jack Clarke, especially with such a strong public statement from the player’s agent. Tottenham might attempt to nab the Leeds United star in January. But, the probability of a deal in the coming couple of days looks bleak.
