Manchester United have been told to cough up over €120 million to land one of their top defensive target Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan

As reported by Daily Mirror, Inter Milan manager Luciano Spaletti has claimed that any club that is interested in Milan Skriniar will have to fork out at least €120 million to secure his services. The Slovak is a top defensive target for Manchester United, who are in the market for a centre-back.

Skriniar has become one of the most highly sought-after defenders in the transfer market owing to his exploits with Inter Milan over the last couple of years. His consistent performances have seen the Slovak being regarded as one of the most promising young defenders whilst also becoming a hot property.

One of his long-term suitors are Manchester United, who are known to be in the market for a centre-back for several months now. In fact, the Premier League heavyweights were briefly linked with Skriniar in the summer transfer window as well before they turned their attention towards other targets.

Heading into the January transfer window, however, Manchester United have reportedly identified the 23-year-old as their top defensive target. But, Skriniar will not come cheap, with Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti announcing that interested clubs will have to shell out over €120 million to land him.

“If it’s Barcelona, they will have to pay €100 million, and if I am them I would pay a €20 million tip on top. And if I’m Real Madrid, the [€100 million] with a €40 million tip—that is how highly I rate Skriniar.”

While the figure is definitely steep, the current state of the market, coupled with the potential that the player has showcased in his stellar performances have surely escalated his price. But, as Virgil van Dijk has shown with his extraordinary impact at Liverpool, big money deals can pay off handsomely, with the Reds boasting one of the most solid defensive units in England.

Skriniar has proven himself to be an excellent reader of the game while also being technically adept and exhibiting maturity beyond his years. Thus, the Inter Milan superstar, if signed by Manchester United could potentially be the ideal foil for Victor Lindelof, who has been projecting a lot of improvement in recent weeks.

The Nerazzurri would ideally like to hold on to the Slovakian international, who has been crucial to their return to the top echelons of Italian football. But, if Manchester United decide to shell out the €120 million that Spalletti has alluded towards, we might just see Skriniar make his way to Old Trafford in the winter.
