Juventus are reportedly set to offer star forward Paulo Dybala to Manchester United as part of a potential £150 million swap deal to lure Paul Pogba.
As per a report from Daily Mirror, Manchester United are set to be offered Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala as part of a sensational swap deal that would see midfielder Paul Pogba return to the Italian champions.
The 25-year-old Pogba spent four years at Juventus, having joined the club on a free transfer in 2012. The midfielder made 178 appearances for the club, scoring 34 goals and winning four consecutive Serie A titles in the process.
Reports in the summer claimed that the Bianconeri were keen on taking the Frenchman back to Italy, two years after selling him to United for a then world record fee of £89 million. And, it seems that they are now willing to throw in Dybala, who is valued at £100 million, as a makeweight in a potential deal worth £150 million to sign their former player.
Dybala has found himself on the sidelines in the 2018-19 season, since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in the summer. The 24-year-old has started just two of Juve’s four Serie A matches this season and has failed to score or assist a single goal so far.
Dybala is understood to have grown frustrated over his situation and is reportedly open to an exit from Turin in the January window.
There has been strong interest in the Argentine attacker from reigning European champions Real Madrid, but Manchester United too have shown keenness to sign him should an opportunity present itself.
The Red Devils have been on the lookout for a solution to their problems on the right flank for a long time now and Dybala would prove to be the ideal fit. With his creativity and eye for goal, the 24-year-old would turn the United attack into a more potent force.
However, it is believed that the Mancunian outfit are not willing to offload Pogba at the moment. The World Cup winner has reportedly fallen out with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and has been trying to force a move away, with La Liga champions Barcelona emerging as the most viable destination.
Pogba started the 2018-19 season on a high with a strong display in the 2-1 win over Leicester City on the opening day, but that level of performance has dropped in the subsequent matches. So far, the Frenchman has made five appearances, scoring two goals – both from the penalty spot.
The 25-year-old midfielder has made a few controversial statements since the beginning of the season, and has refused to rule out a move away from Old Trafford in the near future, which has only added further fuel to rumours of his possible transfer to Barcelona or Juventus.
A cash plus swap deal would certainly suit both Juventus and Manchester United. The Italian champions are looking to build a team capable of winning the UEFA Champions League and are hoping that uniting Pogba with Ronaldo will help them achieve just that.
On the other hand, United will be getting their hands on a special talent like Dybala in return for a player whose second spell with the club has been marred with inconsistencies and who seems to be intent on securing a transfer away.
However, it remains to be seen if Juventus come up with the stunning offer once the transfer window opens and even if they do, it will be interesting to see how Manchester United respond to it.
