Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has refused to rule out a move for Paul Pogba, amid the Frenchman’s uncertain Manchester United future.

As reported by Daily Mail, Josep Bartomeu did not rule out making a possible move for Paul Pogba before the summer transfer window slams shut in Spain. The Manchester United superstar has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, with his future at Old Trafford being uncertain.

Pogba has been at the centre of one of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer. While there has been nothing concrete to suggest that the Frenchman will definitely join Barcelona, widespread reports do allude to the fact that leaving Manchester United could be a possibility.

The most recent reports have suggested that Pogba is determined to remain at Old Trafford and snub the chance to join Barcelona. But, Pogba’s latest comments over his future at Manchester United suggest that everything is not hunky dory between him and the club.

The 25-year-old’s uncertain position at Manchester United means Barcelona could have the chance to land him this summer, provided they launch the offensive. And, while Josep Maria Bartomeu did not take his name, the Blaugrana president pointed towards the near-three weeks that remain for the window to slam shut in Spain while saying that anything could be possible.

“I won’t speak of any names, we have respect for all clubs and there are 20 days left. We’ll see which players come out. We’re focused on the league, so it’s best to ask [Eric] Abidal, [Ramon] Planes or Pep Segura about players. There’s still time to do business.”

Barcelona Director of Football, Eric Abidal too, was quizzed about the Catalans’ links with Pogba, when he had poured cold water on the speculations by insisting that they were not in talks with his compatriot. What does seem certain though, is that the Spanish champions are interested in the Manchester United superstar.

But, the interest in Pogba comes as a bit of a surprise, considering Ernesto Valverde is well stocked with central midfield options. Two of those players were signed this summer, and adding Pogba to the list could end up unnecessarily cramping up space for the Barcelona manager.

Nevertheless, it does look like the La Liga champions could make a move for the Frenchman, even if previous reports of a bid were untrue. Manchester United though, should certainly fight tooth and nail to keep hold of their prized asset, even if his relationship with Jose Mourinho is strained.

The speculations surrounding Pogba aren’t going to die down just yet. With over two weeks still left for Spanish clubs to sign players, it remains to be seen if Barcelona end up making a move for the French international. Bartomeu’s comments do make things interesting for now.
