Arsenal are considering a sensational swap deal with Barcelona in a bid to take French winger, Ousmane Dembele to the Emirates.
Arsenal and Barcelona could do business in the coming weeks, as both clubs are considering a deal involving Aaron Ramsey and Ousmane Dembele, all according to The Sun. The Gunners are reportedly interested in a move for the French winger and could offer Aaron Ramsey to Barcelona as part of the deal.
Aaron Ramsey’s increasingly worrying situation at Arsenal is again set to be in the headlines, having been linked with a £30 million move to Chelsea in the last week. This time, it’s Arsenal who are thought to be considering to offload the Welshman and reportedly offer him as part of a deal to bring the unhappy Ousmane Dembele to the Emirates.
Despite Chelsea’s reported interest, The Sun goes on to suggest that Ramsey would find it increasingly difficult to turn down an offer from Barcelona should they be interested in what has been reportedly proposed by Arsenal. The Welshman is at loggerheads and is yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners, despite being reportedly close to agreeing one.
If Arsenal and Ramsey fail to agree to a new deal, the club could be actively looking to offload the Welshman and cash in on him considering he would only have 12 months left on his current deal. On the other hand, it now seems like Arsenal have lost any hope from Ramsey to sign fresh terms and are looking to make full use of his availability in their reported pursuit of Ousmane Dembele.
Ousmane Dembele has been subject to a move away from the Camp Nou, after a somewhat subdued first season at Barcelona. Big things were expected from the talented Frenchman after his €150 million move from Borussia Dortmund last summer, but injuries and a somewhat loss of form restricted his play.
Despite all the setbacks, Dembele managed to make 23 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and assisting eight during his first season. Now, for the future, Dembele reportedly feels he needs to play regularly, rather than from the bench to progress in his career.
Dembele, by all means, has a complicated decision to make, with staying at Barcelona a big option. But, there is a general feeling, him leaving would do his chances of playing regularly a world of good. The next twist comes in the form of Brazilian winger Malcom, signed by Barcelona in a €41 million deal recently, who looks to threaten Dembele for his place.
Arsenal could represent a chance for the young star to carry his career forward in the right direction, and if the interest is real, then Dembele reportedly could be in favour of a move. His already hefty price tag could prove a problem, and for that sake, Arsenal are ready to offer Ramsey as a sweetener in the deal for the Frenchman.
The coming weeks will open up this story further, and it would be interesting to see how Arsenal are going to prise Dembele away from Barcelona because with or without Ramsey, the price for the Frenchman is going to be sky high. While on the other hand, if Ramsey decides to sign fresh terms with Arsenal, a move for Dembele will be all but impossible.
